Explore 2 (Beta)
Overview
Explore 2 (Beta) is the updated workspace in Sift for visualizing and analyzing telemetry data from completed test Runs. It allows users to inspect raw and calculated signals across many channels, supporting flexible review and comparison workflows through an improved interface and layout system.
Users can plot Channels from one or more Runs, zoom into fine time intervals down to zeptoseconds, and create Calculated Channels directly within the workspace to support in depth analysis. All supported chart types such as Timeseries and Table can be viewed at the same time. The current state of the workspace, including selected Channels, filters, time ranges, and layout, can be shared via link to preserve and communicate the full analysis context.
This reference page covers the updated Explore workspace, which introduces significant improvements and new capabilities. While in beta, this version is temporarily referred to as "Explore 2 (Beta)" to distinguish it from the previous version. However, the official name remains Explore. Once the updated version is fully released, the older version will be deprecated, and Explore 2 (Beta) will simply be called Explore.
Layout
Explore 2 (Beta) is organized into three main sections: Navigation, Visualization, and Settings. Each section plays a distinct role in how you interact with telemetry data. The layout is designed to support side-by-side workflows, allowing you to browse and select Channels, visualize telemetry across multiple charts, and configure chart-specific settings in a single workspace.

A chart type's settings
Section | Location | Description |
---|---|---|
Channel selector | Left panel | In this section, you can navigate between the Channels and Calculated Channels tabs. In the Channels tab, you can select Channels to plot from one or more selected Runs. In the Calculated Channels tab, you can select existing Calculated Channels associated with a Run's Asset, or create a new Calculated Channel directly within the tab. |
Panel area | Center panel | In this section, you can display one or more charts that visualize telemetry data from the selected Channels or Calculated Channels. |
Chart settings | Right panel | In this section, you can configure the settings for an individual chart displayed in the visualization section. |
Data source
Explore 2 (Beta) uses a data source to define which Run or set of Runs is currently active in the workspace. The selected data source determines what telemetry is available to view, plot, and analyze. Each data source consists of one or more Runs. These Runs are the basis for selecting Channels, plotting charts, and defining Calculated Channels within the session. You can switch the active data source at any time.
Share
The Share feature in Explore 2 (Beta) allows you to generate a link that captures the current state of the workspace. This includes selected Channels, plotted Runs, chart layout, time range, and visualization settings. Share links can be sent to others so they can open Explore 2 (Beta) with the exact same configuration, making collaboration easier and more consistent.

Calculated Channels
A Calculated Channel is a virtual signal created from existing Channels using mathematical or logical expressions. Calculated Channels allow you to derive new insights from raw telemetry without modifying the original data. In Explore 2 (Beta), you can create, edit, and plot Calculated Channels directly within the workspace. Calculated Channels are associated with an Asset. While plotting and evaluation happen in the context of a selected Run, the definition of a Calculated Channel is tied to the Asset and can be reused across all Runs within that Asset.

Charts
Chart panels in Explore 2 (Beta) are displayed within the Panel Area, where telemetry data from selected Channels and Calculated Channels can be visualized. Each panel is independently configurable and supports a specific chart type. Multiple panels can be shown at once in different layout arrangements. Explore 2 (Beta) currently supports the following chart types:
Chart split types
Explore 2 (Beta) allows you to organize your workspace by splitting a chart into new panels. This enables side-by-side or stacked chart layouts, making it easier to compare different signals or analysis views.
Split type | Description |
---|---|
Split up | Adds a new chart panel above, using the same chart type and configuration as the current chart. |
Split down | Adds a new chart panel below, using the same chart type and configuration as the current chart. |
Split left | Adds a new chart panel to the left, using the same chart type and configuration as the current chart. |
Split right | Adds a new chart panel to the right, using the same chart type and configuration as the current chart. |
